The company was founded by Henry W. Bigge who established Bigge Drayage Company in 1916. Brock Settlemier is Chairman of Bigge and Weston Settlemier, the third generation to manage this family-owned firm, became President in January 2000.
Bigge has been richly involved in the development of California. Bigge hauled steel for the building of the Golden Gate Bridge and transported Liberty ship sections during World War II. Bigge has contributed to the erection of fossil and nuclear power stations and every refinery in Northern California and assisted in the San Francisco Bay Area’s recovery from the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.
